Being a Local Guide for three hours

Today (November 11^th) was so unpredictable. Icha invited me to join her to accompany a foreigner. Actually I was so lazy because I got period. But my mind commanded me to say “Yes”! New day is new experiences.

The foreigner’s name was Nick. He had dark skin that’s why for the first time I met him, he didn’t like a foreigner. He was so nice and also full of spirit. He also showed that we should throw our garbage away in rubbish bin. He had to keep our beloved earth as soon as possible. As an Indonesian people, I was shy, why we cannot do the easy things like him. Maybe it had been our habit, yes bad habit! Really bad! Can we change it, guys?

We walked around to see many places, such as Rocket competition, Rektorat, Medical faculty, PPA, Orchid’s week, and Library.

I told him that I wanted to be like him, a Traveler. He didn’t bring much money but he brought a strong willing to meet new people, new places and also new experience. Moreover he has ever been skilled laborer in Banyuwangi. Wow, I could not imagine it! He asked me what country I wanted to go? Japan! Yes I wanna go there… I wanted to know many cultures, people and manner there. I said I was afraid if I go there alone maybe there will be happened criminality or something like that but he motivated me many things. He said that many girl travelers were alone. We could go alone but maybe in the middle of our journey we met another traveler. Then we could walk together but we separated by our own way. He also said that I should hide my fear and show that I know the place well. He had sold his clothes, be skilled laborer to make a lot of money and go travel.

Oh, Nick, You are real traveler that I have ever met. Nice to meet you, Nick! Hopefully someday we can meet again in the different situation, maybe still as a traveler.
